HS5-TD: A new headspace module for UNITY 2

Markes International’s HS5-TD system brings together two of the most powerful GC introduction techniques: headspace (HS) and thermal desorption (TD). The combined system offers users optimum sensitivity for trace-level organics in solid, liquid and vapour-phase samples – all on one versatile analytical platform.

The HS5-TD comprises a manually operated, 5-vial headspace unit integrated with Markes’ state-of-the-art fully-functional UNITY 2 thermal desorber. The system accommodates up to 5 standard (/Administration20 ml) headspace vials in a common heated zone with manual vial selection.

Applications: A new publication in “The Column” & “The Peak” (July 2008)

“Enhancing GCMS analysis of trace compounds using a dynamic approach to reducing background interference” was recently published in the on-line journals The Column and The Peak.

The paper describes how Markes’ ClearView™ software can be applied to GCMS data in order to remove background interferences thereby enhancing signal/noise (S/N) and aiding the accurate identification of trace analytes.

A copy of the paper published in The Column can be downloaded here.
