Customer Support Specialist

Reports to: Customer Support Manager

Location: Llantrisant

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this role is to deliver outstanding technical support to our customers worldwide, through your direct response to customers’ hardware, application or software concerns and by coordinating the wide range of expertise within Markes to best meet the customer needs.

The role is primarily office based but will require some worldwide travel potentially up to 20% of the time.

OBJECTIVES

  • Remote support of customer concerns by telephone, e-mail and web sessions
  • Initial ownership of all reported issues via company CRM and continuing ownership of those not requiring on-site engineer intervention to conclusion
  • Provide technical support to the customer UK Service Resource & Logistics Manager to allocate field service engineers to customer sites and ensure correct part allocation and fault identification in advance of the visit and handover of the issue
  • Development of support documentation to aid customer and engineer self-diagnosis of application problems
  • Occasional on-site travel (up to 20% of time) for service or training as required
  • Repair and refurbishment of customer returned instruments as required
  • Assist engineering and operations in developing preventative measures for existing instrumentation and recommending potential design improvements to increase reliability/serviceability of NPIs
  • Providing training on hardware, software and applications as applicable for distributor engineers, Markes engineers and customers as required
  • Maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of all internal demonstration instrumentation as required.
  • Collation of field observed issues to allow these to be reported back to product and engineering teams as necessary
  • Recognition of sales opportunities following customer communication for additional instrumentation, consumables, training, etc.

Digital Marketing Executive

Reports to: Head of Communications
Location: Llantrisant, UK

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced B2B digital marketing executive, with deep technical experience, to effectively own and drive the planning, delivery and optimization of our online marketing strategy using website, paid search, SEO, email, social, content, analytics and other tactics to drive engagement with, and brand awareness of, the products and companies of the Schauenburg Analytics Ltd group.

OBJECTIVES

  • Websites – in line with the marketing manager and other key stakeholders, effectively own and drive the development, continuous improvement and maintenance of the Group’s websites.
  • SEO – develop and implement strategies to increase ranking in SERP, and to continually work on the SEO of the websites.
  • Google Ads – research (keyword planning), develop and implement PPC campaigns; maximise budget and ROI.
  • SEM – to assist in devising and implementing SEM campaigns as appropriate.
  • Social media marketing – develop a distinct online presence on all social media channels; use of PPC as a tactic in content marketing strategies.
  • Google Analytics and other software tools – monitor and report on the effectiveness of the digital marketing activities of the Group of companies.
  • CRM and attribution modelling – work with the sales department to maximise the effectiveness of the CRM platform and develop suitable attribution models for buyer behaviour for ROI reporting.
  • Marketing automation – to design and code emails and landing pages within the marketing automation platform.
  • Keep abreast of new social media sites, web technologies, digital tools and digital marketing trends.
  • Provide accurate reports and analysis to company management to demonstrate effective ROI.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years’ experience with B2B digital marketing.
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualification in digital marketing/degree in marketing and membership of the CIM.
  • Extensive experience of Salesforce CRM coupled with marketing automation (experience with Pardot is desirable).
  • Extensive experience with digital planning and web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Google tag manager, SEM Rush, etc.
  • Extensive experience in technical SEO and SEM.
  • Extensive experience in delivering PPC campaigns – social media and Google Ads.
  • Proven experience of social media platforms (and delivery tools) to drive engagement and community building.
  • Experience with working with CMS (experience with WordPress and Umbraco is desirable).
  • Experience of the technical apsects Chinese social media (WeChat and Weibo).
  • Proven experience with attribution modelling.
  • Coding experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • An understanding of current digital marketing legislation and regulations e.g. PECR, GDPR, ePrivacy regulation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is desirable.

Product Specialist – Thermal Desorption/Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry

Reports to: Senior Product Specialist

Location: Offenbach am Main, Hessen, Germany

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a pro-active technical sales and customer support role. You will work alongside Markes’ direct and indirect sales channels to drive the TD–GC–MS and related analytical solutions businesses within the DACH region and nearby European countries, thereby ensuring product penetration into the designated market application areas. Extensive training will be provided, predominantly in Offenbach am Main, Germany.

OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be fully conversant with all technical aspects of the Markes’ analytical product portfolio and thereby support and assist the sales/distribution channels with technical input during the path to sale.
  • To fully demonstrate and support the use of Thermal Desorption (TD) instruments with Gas Chromatography (GC) and/or Mass Spectrometry (MS).
  • To maintain the Offenbach laboratory and analytical systems to that they are always ready for use.
  • To support deployment of the local marketing plan through technical strategies and initiatives (e.g. delivering high quality verbal or written presentations, supporting conferences, coordinating user groups and workshops, etc.).
  • To manage pre-sales activities such as customer qualification, running customer samples, developing and optimising methods, and performing system demonstrations to meet the customer need.
  • To write clear and concise customer reports and application briefs following demonstrations or sample analysis.
  • To provide application training so that users of Markes instruments in the territory can maximise use of their analytical system.
  • To actively assist in maintaining and expanding market understanding to include:

Although the role is based at our German headquarters, supporting the sales channels will require a level of travel (20%) to customer sites and Markes subsidiary offices.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Gas Chromatography (GC) - Mass Spectrometry (MS), preferably with some experience of Thermal Desorption (TD) and other sample introduction techniques. They will have/be:

  • A graduate degree or equivalent professional experience (3–5 years) in analytical chemistry or a related field.
  • Hands on experience with GC–MS, with TD as an advantage.
  • Confident and effective verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
  • Drive, enthusiasm, self-motivation, attention to detail
  • Proficient in German and English (spoken and written) - other languages would be an advantage

It is also desirable that they have:

  • Experience in a sales environment.
  • Familiarity with Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry.

Thermal Desorption (TD) Associate Product Marketing Manager

Reports to: TD Product Marketing Manager 

Location: Llantrisant, UK

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Maintaining the company’s leadership and reputation for innovation in thermal desorption is critical for the company’s long-term growth plans. This vital and exciting post will report to the Thermal Desorption (TD) Product Marketing Manager and form a key part of the Markes International marketing team. 

The TD Associate Product Marketing Manager will be working with the Product and Vertical Marketing Teams and the TD Product Manager, colleagues from Sales and the Business Unit / Product Department to develop, continually reassess and implement a strategy for optimising growth of Markes’ core thermal desorption instrument business across all applicable markets and geographies. 

It will involve the following responsibilities:

Strategy and Business Development:

  • Working in close liaison with the TD marketing manager and the business development team pro-actively investigate new market opportunities – e.g. evolving customer needs, market trends, new technologies, regulatory changes and competitive activity – and oversee the objective assessment, quantification and prioritisation of associated new product requirements
  • In close collaboration with the product team ensure timely execution of new product developments
  • Drive new product launches internally and externally planning the necessary sales training, marketing activities and communication strategy.

TD product marketing: 

  • Update, continuously reassess and ultimately own the messaging and positioning of Markes TD products
  • Monitoring all competitive activities and responding appropriately generating the necessary marketing/sales documentation
  • Closely working with the Marcom team to:
    • Maintain Markes’ TD market profile and awareness
    • Plan, develop and drive relevant product marketing campaigns to generate new contacts in the Company’s CRM
    • Participate in events, contributing to relevant scientific or trade press
    • Optimising our use of the web and B2B social media 

Sales support and motivation: 

  • Ensuring Markes’ various sales channels are trained and equipped to sell our TD products effectively 
  • Maintaining regular contact with Sales and distribution channels via joint customer visits, support of events, regular e-news bulletins, etc. 
  • Measure the sales effectiveness, by product, geography, etc. and drive the development of new sales channels for TD instruments when and where required

Market Development Manager – Environmental Air

Reports to: Senior Market Development Manager

Location: Ideally Europe or USA

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Optimising business growth of Schauenburg Analytics products globally within the established and rapidly expanding air monitoring markets – Ambient Air monitoring, Industrial emissions, Atmospheric monitoring and Industrial/Occupational hygiene.

This key role involves working closely with the company’s Business Units and Sales team to develop, continually reassess and implement a strategy for growth of Schauenburg Analytics core thermal desorption, TOF, GCxGC and associated accessories and consumables business to the air monitoring market. To identify, quantify and prioritise target market opportunities in this sector and in all relevant geographies and then implement and drive these priority projects. 

The role involves, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Pro-active investigation of Air market opportunities – by monitoring relevant regulatory and standard method developments around the world, evolving customer needs, market trends, customer activity/enquiries and competitive activity/strengths/weaknesses.
  • Objective assessment, quantification and prioritisation of air-related market opportunities.
  • Maintenance of an effective dialogue between commercial and business units. Work with the Sales teams to support the customers and to feed information back to the Business Unit teams.
  • Highlight new instruments/techniques that could complement the current product portfolio and initiate relevant product development/sourcing projects. 
  • Identify optimum distribution channels/options for each targeted market opportunity – Do we have the right sales channels to really take advantage of a major new opportunity and what do we have to do to maximise their sales effectiveness/success in each case versus the relevant competitors.
  • Work alongside the Market Development Manager and Marcom Manager to plan, implement, drive and monitor the ROI of each prioritised target marketing campaign. Prepare target-market specific application & technical support materials and train the Sales team. Create and participate in webinars, seminars & conferences for customers around the world.
  • Prepare web materials and relevant social media interactions including guru-customer referrals and generally maximise the profile of the company in the air sector.
  • Identify key opinion leaders, for the prioritised target opportunities in the respective key geographies, and support technical collaborations with these influential customers.
  • Together with other Team members, monitor own and competitor’s market share in the key segments Actively participating in and co-ordinating the Company’s strategic collaborations with organisations like ASTM, ISO, EN, US EPA, US FDA, China EPA, etc. to direct and influence their work in developing methods and norms that leverage the broader portfolio.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Degree in relevant chemical science, preferably Masters/PhD
  • Experience in the analytical chemistry instrumentation industry, preferably Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry
  • Knowledge and involvement with standard method agencies and regulatory bodies in the field of environmental air monitoring, i.e. CEN, ISO, US EPA
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. A second relevant language would be desirable (Chinese or European language preferred)
  • Experience of social media platforms (ideally including WeChat and Weibo) to drive engagement and community building
  • Experience of Salesforce CRM is desirable
  • The ideal candidate is also located near a major airport hub, and is willing to travel globally, up to 40% of the time
