A new outlook on soft ionization for GC–MS
The March 2014 edition of the magazine LCGC: Current Trends in Mass Spectrometry features an article by Laura McGregor, Nick Bukowski and David Barden from Markes, discussing Select-eV variable-energy ionisation technology for BenchTOF time-of-flight mass spectrometers. Particular emphasis is placed on the advantages of this technology over other methods for achieving soft ionisation – notably the avoidance of sensitivity losses.
The potential of Select-eV is illustrated by examples showing how it can help to confirm compound identity, differentiate between isomers and enhance signal-to-noise ratios in challenging GC–MS and GC×GC–MS studies.
